Heat Treat Verification Testing
Mechanical testing to verify post heat treatment physical properties
Heat Treating Process
Heat treating is designed to change the material properties of various types of metals in order to achieve a desired effect. The process involves using a furnace to "soak" or cook the steel at a specific temperature for a specific amount of time with pre-heat and ramp down cycles at a prescribed rate. Various cooling and quenching techniques can then be employed, to alter the micro-structure. Physical properties such as hardness, strength, toughness, and ductility can be manipulated to optimize the performance of an alloy. Heat Treatment Validation The science behind and the implementation of heat treating has been around for over 100 years. However, its not an exact science. Heat treat validation testing is necessary given that there are so many variables involved in the heat treating process to ensure that the heat treatment process produces the correct results prior to executing a production run. Quality Testing is capable of providing the information you need quickly and accurately determine if your heat treating process is producing the correct outcome.
