![]() In an effort to increase the efficiency of production and effectiveness of our organizational communication, between our mechanical test lab and the machine shop, Quality Testing has implemented a big screen TV to display our job tracker! The job tracker is a shared spreadsheet that instantly updates once a change has been made. By adding new color codes to the list anyone in the shop can quickly and accurately determine if a change has been made or if a job is HOT! Two trends seem to be taking place within the industries that require mechanical testing: An increased demand for testing and a movement towards having a Quality Management System in place. In an effort to be ahead of the curve, Quality Testing, Inc. has been implementing the components required by ISO 9001 behind the scenes over the last several months.
In order to become officially certified, QTI has chosen Preferred Registrar Group as the registrar that will determine our eligibility. We look forward to our formal audit and working with PRG! Quality Testing Inc has been selected for the 2013 Best of Baton Rouge Award in the Mechanical Testing Laboratories category by the Baton Rouge Award Program.
Each year, the Baton Rouge Award Program identifies companies that we believe have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category. These are local companies that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and our community. These exceptional companies help make the Baton Rouge area a great place to live, work and play. Various sources of information were gathered and analyzed to choose the winners in each category. The 2013 Baton Rouge Award Program focuses on quality, not quantity. Winners are determined based on the information gathered both internally by the Baton Rouge Award Program and data provided by third parties. About Baton Rouge Award Program The Baton Rouge Award Program is an annual awards program honoring the achievements and accomplishments of local businesses throughout the Baton Rouge area. Recognition is given to those companies that have shown the ability to use their best practices and implemented programs to generate competitive advantages and long-term value. The Baton Rouge Award Program was established to recognize the best of local businesses in our community. Our organization works exclusively with local business owners, trade groups, professional associations and other business advertising and marketing groups. Our mission is to recognize the small business community's contributions to the U.S. economy. SOURCE: Baton Rouge Award Program After 17 years Quality Testing, Inc. is ready to take the next step. Over the years we have systematically positioned our company to make the transition to ISO 9001 a smooth one. Though it is not yet a requirement, we see a trend starting to take shape within our industry which values those organizations who commit to a standard of quality management.
In the same way that we continually improve our equipment to provide our clients with "Accurate Results on Time through Technology"; pursuing our ISO certification demonstrates the ability of Quality Testing to be proactive to industry trends and set the standard for all other independently owned mechanical test laboratories in Louisiana and surrounding areas. To our knowledge, Quality Testing, Inc. will be the first mechanical testing laboratory that specializes in metallic materials to become ISO 9001 certified within 150 miles of Baton Rouge! No. In the case of API 5L pipe, it is not possible to determine the difference between X60 & X65 without performing a tensile test, because the two grades have different yield strength minimum requirements.
A Megapascal (MPa) is a measure of force per unit area named after the French mathematician, physicist, inventor, writer, and philosopher Blaise Pascal. In relation to mechanical testing, think of it as the "European version" of PSI. In order to convert MPa to PSI, multiply the MPa value by 145.0377 and that will give you the PSI equivalent (1 MPa = 145.0377 PSI).
![]() In an effort to constantly provide "Accurate Results on Time thorough Technology" Quality Testing, Inc. has invested in a brand new MAZAK Quick Turn Smart 100 lathe. In addition to reducing round tensile production times by nearly half, we will be able to produce small batch custom parts to any new or existing clients! In order to properly test the hardness of metallic materials using the Vickers Microhardness test method, we must test in accordance with ASTM A370, E384, & E92 specifications. In order to ensure that the data we collect is highly accurate, we use a calibrated Louis Small Vickers Microhardness Tester that displays the micro indentation through a digital microscope onto a LCD flat screen which then allows us to use a dial controller to measure the impression.
Where most labs use a FILAR eyepiece to determine the value indentation, which is slow and leaves room for error due to eye fatigue, we can quickly and accurately report the hardness values of your material in a fraction of the time! It's OFFICIAL! Quality Testing, Inc. has successfully updated its web presence to reflect an image that represents our commitment to provide every client with "Accurate Results on Time through Technology". Major design changes were made to the overall look of the site using clean lines and a neutral color scheme that gives the impression of quality that is synonymous with our name. Several new pages were added to increase the value of the end-user experience.
The site has also been optimized to create new opportunities for potential clients to locate us by searching for mechanical testing, welding procedures, or related metallurgical services such as brinell, rockwell, and vickers hardness, and chemical analysis. Though this project will never quite be complete as new, original content is paramount to achieving and maintaining organic search rankings, we are very pleased to unveil our new look that is consistent with our vision for the 21st century. ![]() In order to test a particular metallic material for its mechanical properties, we must first cut and mill a sample from the pieces we receive into particular sizes according to industry standard specifications like ASTM A370, E8, E23, and ASME IX. Due to its orientation, we can cut a coupon on the Z axis, and dramatically reduce the time it takes to cut out a sample. This will enable us to increase production speed and provide faster turn-around-times. Let's hope the test lab can keep up! |
